'Justice League' movie rumors: Willem Dafoe to Play an Altantean?

Dafoe may need to practice holding his breath underwater if the speculation that he is playing an underwater character is true.

After almost a month after it was reported that Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of DC's upcoming "Justice League" movie, speculations as to what role he will be breathing life into started floating. According to the latest report of Birth.Movies.Death., the actor will play a role related to Jason Momoa's Aquaman character.

Sources of the movie-entertainment website claim that Dafoe will be an Atlantean, the citizens of the fictional undersea kingdom led by Aquaman. However, it is not clear whether he will be good Atlantean or a bad one, despite the earlier reports that he will supposedly be one of the good guys in the "Justice League" movie. Either way, Dafoe may need to practice holding his breath underwater if the speculation that he is playing an underwater character is true.

Heroic Hollywood says, though, that there may no need for Dafoe to train for his underwater scenes. The outlet said that due to the awkward cameo scene of Momoa's Aquaman in the just-pulled-out "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Zack Snyder, director of the said movie and the upcoming "Justice League:Part 1," are now considering other options on how to shoot underwater scenes.

The entertainment news website further claims that the production has developed a new technology that will improve underwater scenes of Momoa and other Atlanteans to a certain extent. Reportedly, the production has now resorted to the use of a rig where the Atlanteans are suspended on a mechanical arm in front of a green screen. Then, on the other arm of the machine, a camera is attached for synching with its actors' movements.

Such technology, though, is not only limited for Aquaman as, reportedly, majority of the "Justice League: Part 1" scenes will employ the same method that Synder used in giving his "300" movie an impressive effect.

"Justice League: Part 1" is currently in production in a London studio and is slated for a November 2017 release. It features the triumvirate of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and other DC superheroes, namely, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg, which are being reprised by Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, respectively.
