Justin Bieber Gets Angel Wings Tattoo
Peeking out of the collar of his suit on the back of his neck, Canadian crooner Justin Bieber is showing off a black and gray tattoo resembling angel wings.
Bieber, 21, introduced the new body ink in the form of a pair of wings on Instagram, which garnered over 2 million likes in less than 24 hours.
The body inking reportedly marks the 52nd for the "Purpose" singer. Keith "Bang Bang" McCurdy, the New York City-based tattoo artist behind Bieber's eye tattoo, previously explained the singer's fascination with body art.
Bieber may be addicted to getting the body art, according to McCurdy.
"I'm not sure what his next tattoo will be, but we both joked about how we are addicted to tattoos," he previously told E! News in 2013. "He joked, saying he's only 19, and he already has this many tattoos."
Last year, it seemed Bieber was going to slow down with tattooing after he completed a sleeve on his arm with some fish scales, a boombox and a Korean mask to add to a right arm that already bared tattoos.
"Done with tats 4 a while ... Where I wanna be," Bieber captioned an Instagram image of his arm.
Pattie Mallette, Bieber's mother, has been candid about her thoughts concerning her son's growing number of tattoos throughout the years.
In a question-and-answer session on Twitter, Mallette answered her son's fans' questions about a range of topics. One of her candid answers were about her feelings concerning his body art.
"I wish he didn't have tattoos but I do like them," Mallette tweeted the fan in 2013. "I'm torn. Weird right?"
Along with dozens of body art, the Christian singer has gotten many religious themes inked on himself. In 2013, Bieber got a tattoo of Psalm 119:105 on his shoulder that reads: "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
In his "Believe" movie, the singer explained the inking.
"It was the first memory verse my mom taught me. Basically I was 6 years old when I learned that verse and I had to learn the actual scripture to Psalms 119:105," he revealed. "Every day I learned a new one and I would have this calendar, this chart ... if I memorized it my mom would put a gold star on the calendar. Finally I filled up the book and that was my way to get closer to God."
Bieber also spoke about the cross on his forearm with a world inside of it.
"I think this is also my favorite because I was 8 years old, I was in class and I was literally drawing this cross with the world in it," the singer revealed. "I thought I wanted to get it tatted when I was older."
In the film, the singer also revealed that his upbringing may have influenced his love for permanent ink on his body.
"My personality, I grew up with my dad holding me as a baby with tattoos on his arms so that's all I saw," Bieber said in the film. "I looked up to my dad so I always wanted tattoos."
