Justin Bieber Baby Mama Claims: Singer to Take DNA Test in Two Weeks, Yeater's Lawyers 'Encouraged'
After Justin Bieber announced he would take a DNA test to prove he is not the father of Mariah Yeater’s child, the mother’s lawyers said they were happy about the decision and unafraid of the crooner’s legal threats.
Lance Rogers and Matt Pare, Yeater’s legal team, said they feel good about Bieber announcing he will take the test in two weeks.
"We are encouraged that Justin Bieber will voluntarily take the paternity test. That is the only way to definitively determine who the father is," said the lawyers to TMZ. “We are encouraged that Justin Bieber will voluntarily take the paternity test. Both Bieber and Yeater representatives have allegedly confirmed the DNA testing, with lawyers for the 17-year-old singer selecting a lab to conduct the testing.
Although Yeater, 20, is forcing Bieber take responsibility for his alleged child, the mother could face jail time for statutory rape surrounding the incident.
Yeater was 19 when her and then 16-year-old Bieber allegedly conceived a child in the bathroom of a Los Angeles concert arena.
Andrew Smith, the Los Angeles police commander, told the Associated Press that the possibility of an investigation exists.
"If it's brought to our attention, of course we'll look into it," said Smith.
In a recent "Today" show interview, the teen heartthrob denied the allegations.
"I'd just like to say that none of those allegations are true. I know that I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim," said Bieber.
"I think it's crazy because every night after the show I've gone right from the stage to my car, so it's crazy that someone would want to make such false allegations. To set the record straight, none of it's true," Bieber added.
