Justin Bieber Battery Charges: Singer to be Prosecuted for Spitting on Neighbor?
Justin Bieber may be prosecuted for allegedly spitting on his neighbor following reports claiming the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. will recommend that criminal battery charges be filed against the pop singer.
On Tuesday Bieber, 19, reportedly became agitated when his neighbor, who is a 47-year-old father of three, approached him about his alleged excessive driving claiming it was disturbing residents. The pop star then allegedly threatened and spat on the man prompting him to file a battery complaint.
"The neighbor has complained Mr. Bieber spit on him and made some threats," said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore according to the Los Angeles Times. "Mr. Bieber's people say that it did not happen. Obviously, our detectives will determine what happened and take appropriate action."
The case is currently under investigation and the sheriff's department will ultimately decide whether there is sufficient evidence to ask prosecutors to file charges against Bieber. Sheriff's investigators are expected to refer the case to the L.A. County District Attorney for review and the Dept. will recommend criminal battery charges.
Allegations that Bieber was driving up and down the street at excessive speeds are also being investigated.
The complainant claims that he approached Bieber by saying "You can't drive like this!" which allegedly prompted the singer to fly off the handle and make threats against the man's life.
"Get the ---- out of here. I'm gonna ------- kill you!" Bieber allegedly shot back before allegedly spitting at the complainant.
Bieber, who made headlines after making contact with a paparazzi photographer in London recently, is adamantly denying claims that he spat on his neighbor and threatened him.
The singer claims that the complainant was actively trespassing throughout the incident.
