Justin Bieber Flubs Lyrics to Christmas Song on Today Show
Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber slightly embarrassed himself on NBC's Today show when he forgot the lyrics to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" during a Wednesday morning performance.
Accompanied by a live band and backup dancers to promote the song, which appears in the new movie, Arthur Christmas, Bieber accidentally opened the second part of the song with "he's making a list" instead of "he sees you when you're sleeping," trailing off until he could get himself back on track. At various other points during the performance the teen superstar only repeated lines after being first sung by his backup singers.
Though the crowd didn't appear to mind the flubs in the performance, cheering as Bieber and his backup crew danced around the stage, many were quick to criticize the 17-year-old online.
"This kid has some really bad managers and agents if he is let out to sing in front of so many and he doesn't know the words to the songs," wrote one viewer under the video. "The problem is that these little kids can make CDs because they sing the songs in a studio and can stop and fix if they mess up but get them out onto a real stage to actually sing live and they suck on all levels. (It) means they have no talent or need to take their time before on tour to learn the words and not look like a fraud."
Bieber has been busy promoting his new holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, in the midst of a paternity scandal in which 20-year-old Mariah Yeater is claiming that Bieber fathered her baby in a quick, backstage tryst at a concert last year.
Bieber took a paternity test last week in New Jersey, but his team has yet to hear from Yeater's lawyer to compare the results with those of her 4-month-old son, Tristyn. The teen's legal team said it would pursue legal action against Yeater if the allegations are proven false.
