Pop icon Justin Bieber has moved on to the next part of his spiritual quest to "learn how to spread the Word of God" by spending time with a rabbi in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old performer spent three hours with an unknown rabbi in the Jewish Community Center. He reportedly learned about the Jewish tradition from his manager Scooter Braun. At the time, Braun told Yedioth Ahronoth news that Bieber recited a Christian prayer and the Jewish prayer before each one of his concerts.

Bieber is on a mission to spread the Word of God and has been working with Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz in order to fulfill that mission. The two have spent time together, and Bieber has reportedly cut out all harmful influences in his life, including toxic friends, alcohol and drugs. Just two weeks ago he posted a photo to Instagram with the caption, "The old is gone, the new is here #workinprogress."

"I have a special role in Justin's life, spiritually, but … I'm not a life-motivational guy," Lentz told the New York Post. "We're talking about making sure his life remains a blessing, not a burden."

Lentz met Beiber at a concert in 2008 and the two have remained in contact since then.

"I love Justin, he's a good kid," Lentz told CBN. "He's trying to figure this out. His behavior … you know, he's figuring it out. What should we do? People who are like, 'Is he even a Christian?' With Justin, I tell people grace and acceptance does not mean approval. I can accept you as a human being and not approve of your actions. That's how we've been loved. I love because we were first loved. With Justin, it's not my job to be his police officer. It's my job to be a friend to him, and that's all I am."

Bieber was raised in a Christian household with his mother, Pattie Mallette. She found Jesus after a lifetime of selling drugs and shoplifting, which led her to attempt suicide. But after turning her life over to Christ, she set about making sure her son knew the Lord. She has written about her experiences, and those of raising an international superstar, in her memoir Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom.

"I have been sharing my story since before Justin started his career," Mallette told The Christian Post last year. "He has heard it so many times over the years."
