Justin Bieber Surpasses 'The Bible' on List of Most Engaging Facebook Pages
Justin Bieber is a pop music sensation with one of the strongest social media presences on the Internet, surpassing even “The Bible” recently on a list of the most engaging Facebook pages.
Bieber is ranked third on the list, which was released by AllFacebook.com on Monday, followed closely behind by The Bible in fourth place.
The list of “Facebook's Most Engaging Pages,” which is released on a weekly basis, is created by adding up the total number of interactions – or the “likes” and comments – that fans post to each page during the previous week.
The pages for Bieber and The Bible have both received about 1.3 million interactions since the last time the list was published, with The Bible falling one spot in the rankings since that time.
Bieber's Christian faith has made several news headlines in the last week. In addition to the recent revelation that he got a new tattoo – the face of Jesus Christ on his calf – he also stirred up controversy when he told V Magazine that he doesn't feel like he needs to go to church.
“I don’t think I’m religious. I am spiritual. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I believe that he put me in this position, and that I have to always give him the glory he deserves for putting me here. But I don’t consider myself religious,” Bieber told V Magazine.
“A lot of people who are religious, I feel like they get lost. They go to church just to go to church. I am not trying to disrespect them at all, you know, whatever works for you; but for me, I focus more on praying and talking to Him. I don’t have to go to church. I haven’t been to church in a long time, but I know I have a relationship with Him. People can be like, 'If you don’t go to church, what do you mean, how are you a Christian?' But I am. I talk to Him, and that’s all.”
Since Bieber posted the link to the V Magazine story on his Facebook account on Monday, nearly 37,000 people have “liked” it, and nearly 7,000 have commented on the post.
But his Facebook page has a lot of ground to cover if it has any hope of keeping up with the page in the number one spot, Jesus Daily, which had nearly 4.7 million interactions in the last week. In second place is the page for “Dios Es Bueno,” which in English means “God Is Good,” with about 2.1 million interactions.
“LORD, thank you for waking me up another day,” says one post on Jesus Daily's page. In just five hours on Tuesday that simple post received nearly 140,000 “likes” and nearly 4,000 comments.
Other religious pages also dominated the list of most engaging pages. The number eight spot is currently held by Joyce Meyer Ministries, and at number 13, is Jesus Christ. There are also Islam-related pages on the list, including the tenth-ranked IloveAllaah.com and “Im a Muslim & Im Proud” at seventeenth.
