Justin Bieber Tops Perfume Sales Launch, Charities Win

Justin Bieber has made history with the biggest celebrity fragrance launch on record for Macy’s, making over $3 million in sales in less than a month. A portion of the proceeds make by the launch will go to a number of selected charities.

Bieber made an appearance at New York’s Macy’s Herald Square location June 23, and according to Terry Lundgren, Macy’s president, Bieber made quite the impression on his fans.

“Justin Bieber's Someday fragrance, propelled by Justin's incredible personal appearance at Macy's Herald Square, has resonated with our customers, and has now become the biggest celebrity fragrance launch on record," Lundgren said.

A portion of proceeds from Someday, which costs $35 to $55 a bottle, will be donated to the Make-A-Wish-Foundation and Pencils of Promise, a charity that builds schools in underdeveloped areas of the world.

Upon hearing about the success of his fragrance, Bieber expressed his enthusiasm.

"I'm excited and humbled at the news about Someday," Bieber, 17, said in an email. "It means a lot to me that my fans are there to support. And the best part for me is that my favorite charities are going to share in the success. It is important to pay it forward."

Paul West, the chairman and CEO of Give Back Brands, the company that has partnered with Bieber to make charitable contributions, was also excited about the fragrance’s numbers.

"Justin's fans have spoken," West said in USA Today. "This incredible fragrance and Justin's massive worldwide appeal paired with the idea that you can buy something you love and at the same time contribute to a meaningful cause proved to be an incredibly compelling proposition."

Justin is not the only teenage star looking to venture out into perfume distribution. Bieber’s girlfriend, Selena Gomez, is also reportedly looking to release a fragrance in the near future.
