Justin Bieber Uses Laptop Theft Prank to Debut 'Beauty and The Beat' Video
Justin Bieber gained sympathy from some fans when he tweeted about someone stealing his laptop and threatening to expose a "wild" video on Friday at noon, but the alleged thief ended up premiering the pop star's new video in an elaborate marketing ploy that fooled millions of his fans.
Bieber, 18-year-old Canadian crooner, initially let over 28 million fans know that somebody with the Twitter handle @gexwy was threatening to expose him but the unidentified individual released his new music video "Beauty and The Beat" featuring Nicki Minaj instead. The crooner let his fans know that they had been pranked and explained his reasoning for doing so.
"Since I was 14 I have had a lot of things said about me, from dying, to taking hormones, to dying again, to stuff about my family to saying I had a baby with a woman I never even met, nude pics, drugs, my family, my character...but today...today I get to be in on it," Bieber told his fans before retweeting the video and a message from @gexwy.

Once the crooner's fans realized that they had been pranked by the pop star, many took to Twitter to react. Some people didn't take the news so well that controversy surrounding Bieber turned out to be his own doing.
"@justinbieber You're so lame," one person tweeted the singer.
Other people seemed confused after learning that Bieber pulled a fast one on his fans.
"So his laptop and camera never got stolen," one fan questioned.
Still, others appreciated the singer's unique way of releasing his video.
"And the award for most original music video release goes to........JUSTIN BIEBER," one fan wrote.
However, the alleged thief @gexwy insisted that he told the truth to Bieber's fans who were awaiting a video from the singer.
"I told you I would post something WORTH watching and talking about," the individual tweeted. "And here it is."
