Justin Bieber's Arraignment Scheduled for Valentine's Day
Justin Bieber is due back in a South Florida court room on Feb. 14 following his arrest last week on DUI, resisting arrest and driving without a license charges.
However, the Canadian pop star does not necessarily have to be present at the arraignment, which falls on Valentine's Day. During the arraignment, prosecutors formally submit Bieber's charges and a plea is entered either by Bieber himself or his attorney in writing.
The arraignment date was announced by a Miami-Dade County judge on Tuesday, according to People.com, less than a week after Bieber's Jan. 23 arrest. The "Boyfriend" singer was arrested in the early morning hours after drag racing a rented yellow Lamborghini, driving while under the influence, and smoking marijuana. He admitted to police that he had been using drugs and prescription medication when he was taken in.
Today, Bieber is in Panama where he was spotted filming a new music video on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Usher is also staying at the Punta Chame resort where the R&B singer may be staging an intervention during the vacation.
"Sources tell us Usher flew to Panama for a serious come-to-Jesus with JB on the heels of his arrest in Miami," TMZ reported. "We haven't heard this word used, but this meeting has all the earmarks of an intervention."
It is believed that Bieber's manager Scooter Braun as well as Bieber's mother Pattie Mallette are in the Central American country for the intervention. Last week, Mallette addressed rumors surrounding her son's arrest, including headlines that suggestions she had given interviews on the news.
"I didn't do any interviews with The Sun," she wrote on Twitter on Jan. 23. "Why is everyone saying I did? Gossip writers making things up? Shocker!!"
Mallette was referring to The Sun's report which had quoted her saying, "I think so many people go into the entertainment industry with amazing Christian roots and they get influenced somehow. I ask that people keep me and Justin in their minds. I pray for him every day."
