Justin Timberlake Reveals Past Drug Use
Justin Timberlake recently opened up about his past drug use as his third solo studio album "The 20/20 Experience" became the first album to sell over one million copies so far this year.
Timberlake, 32, recently appeared at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas and admitted that he used to consume drugs while attending the California music festival Coachella in the past.
"I've been to Coachella many times, on many different, um, substances," Timberlake said in an interview with MySpace. "I've been to Coachella many times but not remembered a lot of it, I'll leave it at that."
The "Suit & Tie" singer went into detail about his experiences at the music festival where he watched some rock bands while under the influence.
"Like, I stood in an open field and one year I saw Nine Inch Nails and the next year I saw Weezer and I was standing in the middle of the field, you know, like tripping my mind out," Timberlake told Myspace.
Despite the statements that some may deem controversial, Timberlake's third solo studio album has been making headlines for album sales that many have deemed impressive. Steve Stoute, a former music industry executive, spoke about the impact of Timberlake on the music industry which can be seen through his album sales.
"A lot of artists are not known for albums, they are known just for singles. If you put out singles and you don't follow up quickly enough, unfortunately you are going to be forgotten," Stoute said of Timberlake in a CNN report. "But when you are an artist like Justin who has put out great album after album after album, whether as a part of 'N Sync or as a soloist, his body of work is so great that people will buy in."
Timberlake reacted to the success of his first album in over six years recently on Twitter.
"Whoa... Speechless. Shocked. Numbers go up, numbers go down," Timberlake tweeted. "I just hope this album makes your Summer... You already made mine #bestfansever."
