Justin Timberlake's Open Letter Thanks Fans After VMA Wins
Justin Timberlake took to his website with an open letter to fans after winning big at MTV's 2013 Video Music Awards on Sunday night.
The "Mirrors" singer not only earned the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award during the ceremony, but also took home the moon man trophy for Video of the Year.
Furthermore, Timberlake had received nominations for Best Male Video, Best Pop Video, and Best Collaboration. He also performed "Take Back the Night" and joined fellow members of *NSYNC for a reunion performance onstage at the VMA's.
With so much excitement Sunday night, Timberlake waited until Monday morning to thank fans for their support, adding, "This is too much."
"The last time I wrote you an open letter, it was in January and I promised that it would be a 'Big 2013,'" started the singer on Justintimberlake.com. "Since then, from The Grammys to the release of the first part of The 20/20 Experience to the crowd's response at the VMA's, it's been a wild ride. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have. This letter is to tell you that we're not done."
Timberlake went on to announce that the second portion of his latest album "The 20/20 Experience" would be released on Sept. 20.
"Since all these songs were written together over a year ago, it's been so hard to wait this long to release them," he added. "I can't wait for all of you to hear The 20/20 Experience in full."
The Tennessee native then reassured his fan club- The Tennessee Kids- that much more lies ahead.
"Catch your breath, TN Kids," Timberlake concluded. "We've still got the 3rdand 4th quarter to go. This is too much."
Meanwhile, the letter was not the first time Timberlake made use of a public forum.
Following his wedding to Jessica Biel in October of last year, Timberlake took to Twitter with an explanation about an inflammatory video that had gone public.
Timberlake's friend and Los Angeles real estate agent Justin Huchel created the video, which featured homeless people, such as one toothless man and another shirtless man, congratulating Biel and Timberlake on their nuptials.
It was originally believed that the video displaying the homeless well wishers was played at the wedding, and resulted in outrage.
"The last time I wrote a letter this like, it was when I had the good fortune of attending a once in a lifetime experience by sharing an evening with some of America's finest at the Marine Corps Ball about a year ago," Timberlake started in a post to Twitter as well as his website.
"I can't fight the urge to clarify my thoughts and feelings on what has been a very upsetting portrayal of the people closest to me and myself," he continued. "It's not who I am as a professional or as a man."
Timberlake went on to explain the "silly, unsavory" video so that he could "clear the air so no one has to ever wonder how I feel about it."
The singer then offered an apology, and the video was later removed from Gawker Media.
