Whitaker pushed back when Harris was apparently unable to offer details regarding how she is going to pay for her economic plan, which some economists warn would add $3 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade.

“My plan is about saying that when you invest in small businesses, you invest in the middle class and you strengthen America's economy,” she said. “Small businesses are part of the backbone of America’s economy.”
When asked again to explain how she is going to pay for her plan, Harris said she would make the rich "pay their fair share," but Whitaker reminded her that there is "a real world" and suggested she would struggle to get her plan through Congress.
“We're dealing with the real world here,” Whitaker said. “How are you going to get this through Congress?”
Harris said she "cannot afford to be myopic," and added that she is "a devout public servant," but "also a capitalist."
