Kansas City Chiefs Work Out Former Bills Safety Aaron Williams

After losing five-time Pro Bowler Eric Berry for the rest of season, the Kansas City Chiefs seem to be taking a closer look at a safety who has had a hard time staying healthy.

According to SiriusXM's Adam Caplan, the Chiefs have brought in former Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams for a workout recently.

The former University of Texas at Austin standout was selected by the Bills in the second round of the 2011 draft, but he has failed to play to his full potential due to injuries. Williams has only played in 10 games in the last two seasons due to neck problems and he was released by the Bills last March.

Williams has worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans as well this offseason and he appears to be healthy so he may be an interesting option. He can be productive, but he just has to stay healthy to make an impact.

Meanwhile, fourth-year pro Daniel Sorensen and Eric Murray should see most of the action at strong safety with Berry on the sidelines, and they know that they have some pretty big shoes to fill.

"The players, they understand you're not going to replace Eric Berry –– that's not what you're going to do. Not the whole package of Eric Berry. He's one of the great ones in the game, probably the best safety right now in the game of football. But we have guys in that position that will step in and fill that role that their teammates have a lot of confidence in," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said, via the Kansas City Star.

"Sorensen plays all over the place. But those are the two guys," Reid said of Sorensen and Murray.

He also noted that the number of defensive snaps they play will depend on the defensive package.
