Kanye West Twitter Post Expresses Humility, Talks About First Album 'The College Dropout'
Kanye West shared a heartfelt message with his fans a decade after the release of his debut album, The College Dropout.
West, the 36-year-old rap mogul, may not be a frequent Twitter user, but he took to his social media website to share in the nostalgic milestone with fans.
"Ten years ago today we finally released what had been my life's work up to that point: The College Dropout," West tweeted. "I say 'finally' because it was a long road, a constant struggle, and a true labor of love to not only convince my peers and the public that I could be an artist, but to actually get that art out for the world to hear."

The outspoken rapper went on to express his appreciation for those who helped him with his work.
"I am extremely grateful to each and every person along that road who helped, lent an ear, lent their voice, gave of their heart to that project, and to all the projects that followed, and are to come," West tweeted. "I am honored and humbled by my fans, for the unwavering support and love over the past ten years.I wake up every day trying to give something back to you that you can rock to and be proud of."
Despite his celebrity status, West insists he is still the person that started off in Chicago.
"Ten years later I am still the same kid from Chicago, still dreaming out loud, still banging on the door," he wrote. "The doors may be heavier, but I promise you WE WILL BREAK THEM."
West has not shied away from speaking about his genius and impact in the past and admitted that people do not approve of it.
"People get mad at me saying that I am a creative genius, but it's just obvious. It's, like, factual," West previously told Philadelphia radio station Hot 107.9. "I would write creative genius when I go through the airport ... I would put that on customs [forms], where you put what your title is, except for two reasons: it takes too long to write and sometimes I spell the word genius wrong."
