Kanye West Fulfills Community Service at Fashion School (PHOTO)
Kanye West was recently spotted fulfilling community service at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College.
The "Yeezus" rapper, 37, reportedly spoke with students at the community college about his experience in the fashion world in order to fulfill his court-ordered 250 hours of community service, according to TMZ.com.
In March, West reportedly cut a plea deal with prosecutors to avoid jail time relating to a case involving paparazzi photographer Daniel Ramos, who claimed he was assaulted by the rapper last year.
West was sentenced to two years of probation and 24 anger management therapy sessions in addition to the community service.
So far the recently married rapper has paid three visits to the college in the space of six weeks. On Monday, he spent three hours engaging with students and he is expected to speak at other colleges in the near future.
At one point during the speaking engagement, West took the time to pose for a photograph alongside some fashion students.
"Kanye West speaking to the graduating fashion students at L.A. Trade Tech college about the business of fashion and his personal experience within the fashion industry. This is so dope! #kanyewest #lattc #latepost," one student captioned alongside an Instagram photo.
West, who has his own fashion label, began working in the fashion industry in 2009 by completing an internship program at top Italian fashion house Fendi.
The entry-level role at Fendi involved "going to work, walking to work, getting cappuccinos," he said at the time, according to dbtechno.com
In 2011 the hip-hop star launched his DW Kanye West women's fashion line at Paris Fashion Week. While his fashion line received mixed reviews, it was his return to Paris Fashion week during early 2012 which led to widespread criticisms and even accusations that he copied some looks from another big-name designer.
West was left stunned after his 2012 show, which featured guests like Vogue Editor Anna Wintour and and Alicia Keys, after critics suggested that he replicated prior season looks from designer label Givenchy, according to the New York Daily News.
"Kanye West collection was so Givenchy-esque that it's embarrassing that Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci was an expected guest. Ten points off for copying the smart guy sitting next to you," the Wall Street Journal's Christina Binkley wrote at the time.
Last month, West married his reality TV star girlfriend Kim Kardashian in Italy.
