Kanye West, Paris Hilton Defend Themselves Against Negative Nelson Mandela Claims
Kanye West, the 36-year-old rap mogul, is defending himself against claims that he spoke negatively about South African leader Nelson Mandela after his recent death.
After a satirical article about West's egotistical comments concerning Mandela's death went viral, the rapper was not happy.
"Mandela was working in South Africa, which has, like what, six people? I started my magic here in the USA and then I took my business global …," a fictitious quote from West featured in The Daily Currant stated. "I liberate minds with my music. That's more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever."

The rap mogul took to his Twitter to defend himself against the claims.
"Despite recent media reports, I've never said anything to dishonor or trivialize the life or transition of one of the most inspiring leaders," West tweeted. "I'd like to address the false stories and noise that have been engineered by the media."
He went on to honor the life of Mandela.
"At a young age my mother taught me the importance of his work. Mandela sacrificed his life for the betterment of mankind," West tweeted. "Thank you, Mandela, for your life's work and may it serve as a guiding light to illuminate our future."
However, West is not the only person that has defended themself against false reactions to Mandela's recent death. Socialite Paris Hilton was the subject of false reports that claimed she thought Mandela and American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. were the same person.
"RIP Nelson Mandela. Your 'I Have A Dream' speech was so inspiring," the fake tweet that went viral from Hilton read. "Amazing man."
Hilton, 32, defended herself against the fictitious tweet.
"Whoever made that stupid fake tweet lacks respect to the loss the world is mourning right now. Same goes for all the blogs who ran with it," Hilton tweeted. "Just landed & heard the sad new about Nelson Mandela. He was a true Hero & the world is a better place because of him. May he rest in peace."
