Kanye West Claims Link Between Christian Faith and Fashion: 'The World Can Be Saved Through Design' (VIDEO)
Kanye West said recently that he believes fashion design is an extension of God's work and that ultimately, it has the power to "change the world."
Last month the "Yeezus" rapper spoke about how fashion is interlinked with faith during The Daily's Fashion Los Angeles Awards. He was giving a tribute to Milk Studios co-founder Mazdack Rassi, who was honored at the event.
"I believe that the world can be changed, the world can be saved through design, through unselfish design through unselfish creation," a characteristically passionate West told the star-studded crowd. "You know God is the number one creator. I'm a Christian, I'm not trying to force my opinions on anyone, but in my opinion God is the number one creator. Anytime we create, we're the extension of doing His work on earth while we're here (what can we do for humanity) and in a way the fashion is what defines the time."

In 2009 the Grammy award-winning artist moved to Italy to complete an internship program at top Italian fashion house Fendi. Two years later in 2011, he launched his first very own women's fashion label DW Kanye West and he has been actively involved in the fashion industry ever since.
"We have the power to change the world, I believe that through design, because design is the closest to truth problem solving, truth is to love, love is the closest thing to God and God is love but we have to be unselfish in our approach," he said.
The eight-minute speech, though at times rambling, drew cheers and applause from the crowd which included some of Hollywood's elite Katy Perry, Rihanna, Ciara, Kerry Washington and more.
"I'm working on one mission, and that's a mission from God," West once declared to Power106FM about his love for the Arts. "I'm here to help. I'm going to apply all the blessings I've got."
West is currently gearing up to release his seventh studio album. It is unclear whether the project, which is a follow up to his 2013 "Yeezus" album, will feature faith elements like so many of his previous albums have, however; a music veteran and longtime collaborator of West's described it as being "different."
"The album is different. It's like a pair of Timberlands; like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede," Malik Yusef previously told Rolling Stone. "It's not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now and it's not the ruggedness of just 'hip-hop hip-hop hip-hop'...We've been all around the world [recording]."
The rapper, who is said to be planning a North American tour this year, made headlines in 2013 while performing his "Yeezus" tour in the U.S. following his decision to bring out a Jesus look-a-like on stage during "Jesus Walks."
"I had a friend of mine that's a pastor there as we started discussing how we wanted to deliver it," West previously told Wild 94.9.
"My girl [Kim Kardashian] even asked afterwards, 'Is that weird if Jesus comes onstage?'" he continued. "They're like, 'No. We do plays all the time. People play Jesus. You know what's awesome about Christianity? We're allowed to portray God. We're allowed to draw an image of him. We're allowed to make movies about him. Other religions, you're not allowed to do that. That's what's really awesome about Christianity. That's one of the really awesome things."
