Kanye West Slams 'Malicious' Cheating Rumors, Model Apologizes to Kim Kardashian
Kanye West has denied Wednesday reports claiming he cheated on his pregnant girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, with a representative for the rapper describing the reports as "malicious."
A U.S. tabloid claimed Leyla Ghobadi had a secret tryst with West, 36, just weeks ahead of Kardashian's due date. The "New Slaves" rapper immediately denied the Canadian model's explosive claims and dismissed her "attack" as a desperate attempt to garner publicity.
"This most recent attack on Kanye West and his family is totally without merit. It's a blatant attempt by a misguided individual who is clearly seeking publicity, and another in a series of malicious stories drummed up by non-credible 'news' sources," a rep for West said in a statement obtained by TMZ.com.
"This is a sad attempt to hurt two people trying to live their lives," the statement went on.
Kardashian, 31, and West have dated for more than one year and the couple is expecting their first child in July. Ghobadi, 24, publicly apologized to Kardashian after receiving criticism from fans over her allegations, but she has stood by the claims.
"Sorry. Maybe I went about this the wrong way but how else am I meant to get thru to her? I am NOT the bad guy in this situation, nothing more 2 say," Ghobadi wrote in a series on tweets posted Jun 12.
West recently professed his love for Kardashian in an interview with The New York Times. Despite recurring reports of a split, the rapper insisted that he is "in love" with the reality TV star.
"I'm the type of rock star that likes to have a girlfriend, you know? Any woman that you're in love with or that loves you is going to command a certain amount of, you know, energy," West told The Times.
"It's actually easier to focus, in some ways," he said regarding effect of his relationship on his forthcoming album, Yeezus. He later referred to Kardashian as "an amazing person that I'm in love [with]."
