Kanye West Talks Kim Kardashian Show, Rapper Won't Appear Due to 'Backlash'
Kanye West recently opened up about his decision to distance himself from his girlfriend Kim Kardashian's reality TV shows.
In March it was claimed that the "New Slaves" rapper, 35, was attempting to separate himself from Kardashian, 31, in a bid to protect his image. The rumors were fueled when West abruptly moved to France in February, however he recently explained that his absence from the show is simply due to "backlash" from critics and his desire to have privacy particularly now that he and Kardashian are expecting their first child.
"You know, the amount of backlash I got from it is when I decided to not be on the show anymore. And it's not that I have an issue with the show; I just have an issue with the amount of backlash that I get because I just see like, an amazing person that I'm in love with and want to help," West told the New York Times regarding criticism he received over a scene in which he analyzed Kardashian's wardrobe.
"Yeah..I just don't want to talk to America about my family. Like, this is my baby. This isn't America's baby," he continued.
Kardashian is due to give birth in July and while fans are hoping the reality TV star will feature her newborn on her family's E! Reality TV show, reports claim West has rejected the idea.
"One of the things was just to be protective, that I would do anything to protect my child or my child's mother. As simple as that," West said regarding what kind of father he will be after his daughter is born.
Kardashian previously acknowledged that she and West hold different views when it comes to privacy. While she is comfortable living openly, the rapper, who she has been dating for one year, is not.
"We live different lives, but I love being open. That's who I've always been. That will never change because that is who I am. It does worry me when I think about it," Kardashian told Fabulous magazine.
"I'm definitely more of a recluse since I'm pregnant but I haven't necessarily decided to hold myself back, it's just preparing myself for respecting the privacy of my child and my boyfriend," she added.
