Touched parents' feet, praised Hindu deity: 5 highlights from Kash Patel's FBI nomination hearing
4. FBI building to become 'deep state museum'?
In one of the more dramatic moments of Thursday's hearing, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., questioned Patel about a statement he had made regarding the FBI headquarters.
"Did you say that the FBI headquarters should be shut down and reopened as a museum of the deep state?" she asked.
Klobuchar appeared to refer to comments Patel made during an appearance on "The Shawn Ryan Show," in which he called for decentralizing the FBI and turning its D.C. headquarters into a museum, and pledged to "shut down the FBI Hoover Building on day one and reopen it the next day as a museum of the deep state."
In his reply, Patel slammed the senator for what he called "false accusations and grotesque mischaracterizations, "adding, "The only thing this body is doing is defeating the credibility of the men and women at the FBI.
"I stood with them here in this country. I was on the ground in service of this nation, and any accusations leveled against me that I would somehow put political bias before the Constitution are grotesquely unfair," he said.
