Kat Von D Channels Heartache on New Album

Upon her broken engagement to Jesse James, Kat Von D has been recording a “tragically romantic” album.

The famous tattoo artist announced the split via Twitter in July, writing, “I’m no longer w Jesse.” Von D became engaged to the “West Coast Choppers” CEO and motorcycle magnate six months earlier.

“And out of respect for him, his family and myself, that’s all the info I’d like to share. Thanks for respecting that,” Wrote Von D of the break-up.

After rekindling their relationship, the couple broke up again in September, and the high profile relationship has reportedly caused Von D a lot of “turmoil.”

The “LA Ink” star told E! Online that she has always been interested in music.

“I’ve been passionate about music all my life… I’ve been playing classical piano since I was six. So I understand the form, but it will be fun to be able to translate a message.”

The emotionally charged album will sound “more on the dark, more tragically romantic” side, said Von D, who names bands such as Depeche Mode and The Cure as her favorites.

“I think it’s much like tattooing or the TV show or makeup, my clothing line, fashion,” Von D says of her other areas of expertise. “All those things, they’re just different outlets to be able to be creative. So music, I think it’s going to be one of those things.”

James’ infamous divorce from actress Sandra Bullock in 2010 over matters of infidelity has led the media to believe his relationship with Von D ended for the same reasons. Von D, who is also releasing a book in upcoming months, seemed to confirm these allegations on Twitter this week.

“No, my next book will not be about my cheating ex. There are way too many positive and inspiring things to write about instead,” wrote Von D, most probably about James.

The 29-year-old exclaimed on her Twitter account Tuesday, “Whoah! The concept for my book has all of the sudden taken a crazy turn! Talk about risking it all… So excited!”

No announcements have been made about when the new album and book by Von D will be released.
