Kate Middleton Due Date Nears, Pregnancy Craving Revealed
Kate Middleton is closing in on her due date while still enjoying her favorite pregnancy craving- vegetarian curry.
Since the expectant mother and her husband Prince William have not yet welcomed their first child, Middleton's pregnancy craving is still in full swing, according to an insider.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been enjoying Indian dishes at Peach's Spar store in Bucklebury, according to Us Weekly.
"She has been eating them during the pregnancy," Chan Shingadia, owner of the store said. "The Duchess has come in several times for our curries, before she got married, and quite a few times afterwards."
The spinach curry at Peach's Spar is comprised of potatoes, peas, black lentils, spinach and cauliflower and is typically served over rice.
"It's not spicy," Shingadia assured. "Very mild."
The store owner added that Middleton orders the food herself, "but I imagine she shares the meals with [Prince William]."
"There is enough for more than just one to eat," he said.
Pregnancy cravings are a common occurrence, and the hungers often represent real nutritional needs that the body is seeking, such as vitamins and minerals.
Earlier in her pregnancy, Middleton was reportedly craving more unusual food items such as lavender-infused shortbread.
"A lot of women develop cravings during pregnancy and Kate is no exception," a source told The Sun. "She has got a real taste for these [cookies.]"
The unusual sweet treat combines the buttery cookie with the aromatic herb, resulting in one of today's most posh desserts. Furthermore, lavender is believed to lend pregnant women relief from morning sickness- making it a perfect snack for the Duchess who experienced hyperemesis gravidarum, or extreme morning sickness.
"Lavender is said to have healing properties, so it is not such a wacky food to nibble on when you're pregnant," added an insider.
Additionally, it has been reported that Middleton enjoyed the traditional English afternoon tea staple of scones while pregnant.
"Kate has been craving scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream," said another source close to the Duchess, according to Omg! Yahoo News.
"She can't get enough of it," the insider added of the soft, buttery spread made from whipping cream. "And she washed it down with a cup of old-fashioned English-breakfast tea."
Meanwhile, the royal couple along with the rest of the world anxiously awaits the arrival of the royal baby who is due any day now.
