Royal Sisters Kate and Pippa Middleton Voted Top Fashion and Body Image Stars
It’s no surprise that the newly minted bride Kate Middleton has secured a spot in Vanity Fair’s 72nd Annual International Best-Dressed List this year, making the fashion cut for the second time in 3 years.
Praised by the magazine for her “signature mix of high and low fashion,” the duchess continues to steal the hearts, and wardrobes, of many, showing the world that fashion does not always have to come at a steep price.
Her classic, elegant, and most importantly reproducible style has garnered her the title “the pauper’s princess,” according to the New York Post, with anyone, if they so choose, able to imitate her affordable attire.
Her $340 nude Reiss dress, which she wore when meeting First Lady Michelle Obama for the first time, caused a blowout to the British retailer, selling out both online and in the United States as well.
The much-coveted “Shola” dress drew unprecedented traffic for the website, so much so that it crashed trying to meet all of the demand.
From mid-level retailers to Zara to Top Shop, Middleton proves to be “a princess of our times,” revealed Zanna Roberts Rassi, senior fashion editor at Marie Claire to the Post. “She’s more of a people’s princess than Diana. Diana was understated, but she liked her labels. Kate’s heralding this almost changing of the guard, from the stuffy royal family to this modern-day princess that we can all relate to.”
Others on the list this year include actress Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Colin Firth, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy the First Lady of France, and Jane Lauder Warsh, president of Origins and Ojon.
Though sister Pippa Middleton was not seen on the list, she continues to spark her own trends in other ways from skin tone to body shape. According to the Daily Mail, research commissioned to mark the premiere of TV channel Really on Freeview found that the royal sister had the most desirable skin tone out of over 100 celebrities.
Out of 2000 participants, 60 percent voted for Pippa’s “Royal Mocha” shade while 26 percent cast their vote for Cheryl Cole’s “Cappuccino” color.
In fact, Fashion Etc reported that the Middleton sisters were boosting sales of fake tanners in Britain just one day after the royal wedding. Everyone wanted to get the royal glow, which the sisters appeared to effortlessly achieve.
And in the United States and all over the world, everyone was asking for the “Pippa Butt Lift,” explained plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta to Fox News.
“The iconic figures used to be Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, who have tremendous curves and large buttocks. Patients now want to be more proportionate, with buttocks that look natural and sexy and go with the rest of their body.”
Pippa Middleton, the doctor observed, is now the “new queen” of the behind.
The royal influence is sure to not die down anytime soon, as the entire world awaits each new trend the two sisters put forth, giving a little boost to the economy one bronzer or pair of shoes at a time.
