Kate Middleton Maternity Dress Line to Be Designed by Sarah Burton (VIDEO)
Kate Middleton's wedding dress designer has high hopes about the Duchesses' future maternity wardrobe. It's one that she hopes she will be assigned to design.
Prince Charles awarded Sarah Burton for her services to the palace on Dec. 13 at the Buckingham Palace. Burton, the creative director at Alexander McQueen, is responsible for creating Middleton's iconic wedding gown that became the envy of millions of girls across the world.
"I'm very, very humbled and it's just a huge honor to be here -- I'm very lucky," Burton told The Telegraph of being made an Officer of the British Empire. "I've been given some amazing opportunities -- to work for someone as amazing as Lee and then having the honor of doing the wedding dress, that was a real honor."
And now, Burton would like to design Middleton's maternity line as well. Burton may have a good inside perspective too, since she is also pregnant. The fashion designer and her husband David Burton, a fashion photographer, are expecting twins.
When Burton was asked whether or not she would be designing Middleton's maternity line, she responded by saying "I hope I will be," according to multiple repots.
The forest green dress that Middleton was spotted wearing during her appearance at the Sports Personality Year Awards on Sunday night was also an Alexander McQueen creation. It featured bell sleeves and a slimming wrap over the stomach, although the Duchess hardly seemed to need it.
Middleton presented the Lifetime Achievement awards with David Beckham to Lord Seb Coe, Jessica Ennis and Bradley Wiggins, according to the Us Weekly report. While the Duchess said little during the presentation, she did add a few words to each athlete.
The Duchess is in her first 12 weeks of pregnancy, according to palace officials. She has been hospitalized twice since announcing her pregnancy after suffering from acute morning sickness.
