Kate Middleton, Prince William Discuss Baby Name As Queen, Prince Harry Meet Newborn
Kate Middleton, Prince William and their newborn son received a visit from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry on Wednesday and while they reportedly discussed baby names, sources confirm the couple is still undecided.
On Monday the Duchess of Cambridge, 31, gave birth to her and William's first child at St. Mary's hospital in London. On Tuesday the happy family made their first public appearance during which the Duke, 31, confirmed that they are still considering baby names, according to Us magazine.
'[We're] still working on a name," William told reporters outside of the hospital whilst holding his newborn son. "So we'll have that as soon as we can -- it's the first time we've seen him really, so we're having a proper chance to catch up."
On Wednesday morning Prince Harry joined the Queen in meeting the royal heir for the first time at Kensington Palace. They reportedly spent thirty minutes with the baby as Middleton and William continued trying to decide on an ideal name for the future King on England.
"There is no guidance at this stage on names," a royal rep told Us magazine.
Royal author, Charles Kidd, is among various critics who believe George is a top potential pick for the royal couple's son's name. James and Henry have also been dubbed top picks by experts.
"I do think that Prince William is quite a traditionalist - that's my feeling," Kidd, who is editor of Debrett's Peerage and Baronetage, said according to Yahoo.com.
"The fact that he chose to use the royal dukedom (of Cambridge) and has followed royal precedent, I wouldn't be surprised if they use a name that is already familiar in the royal family - something that has royal associations," he explained.
The names Francis, Charles and Philip are also thought to be in the running as potential names due to their royal affiliations.
The baby, who is being referred to as baby Cambridge until his name is revealed, weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs 6 oz after Middleton's 12-hour labor.
""He's got a good pair of lungs on him that's for sure. He's a good boy, he's quite heavy...He's got [Kate's] looks, thankfully," William joked.
"It's such a special time. I think any parent probably sort of knows what this feeling feels like," Middleton said.
