Kate Middleton, Prince William Slammed for 'Cheap' Roof Renovations
Kate Middleton and Prince William recently drew criticism over renovations being made on their Anmer Hall country residence in Norfolk.
The royal couple reportedly gave roof installers the green light to replace old tiles on their second home with bright brick-red slates and neighbors are not impressed.
Anmer Hall is just one of the buildings that form part of Queen Elizabeth II's 20,000-acre Sandringham estate and a new report claims residents have described the property as a "Barratt home," which is said to be a derogatory comparison to a mass British home builder in the UK, according to the Daily Mirror UK.
"The building dates back to the early 1800s but it looks more like a cheap Barratt home now. It's not an eyesore but it does look completely different," one disgruntled neighbor told the Mirror.
Builders have reportedly spent weeks on the latest phase of the mass renovation and the Queen is expected to cover the total cost. The construction began in September.
The home, which was reportedly given to the royal couple by the Queen, boasts a swimming pool, 10 bedrooms and a tennis court.
Middleton and William, 31, will reportedly split their time between their main residence at Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall as they adjust to their new lives with baby George Alexander Louis.
Meanwhile the pair is said to be focused on holiday plans and not criticisms about their roof, as they prepare to spend their first Christmas with five-month-old Prince George.
In a break from royal tradition, the Queen reportedly invited the Middleton family to spend Christmas with the royals at Sandringham House. The Duchess' parents and siblings will join the likes of Prince Charles and Prince Harry, for what is expected to be a 30-person royal Christmas celebration.
"It's hugely important to Kate and William that her family is with them," a royal insider told Life and Style magazine.
