Kate Middleton to Cut Hair? Camilla Advises Duchess to Go 'Shorter and Lighter'
Kate Middleton has reportedly been advised by Camilla Parker Bowles to cut her hair, sources claim.
The Duchess of Cambridge, 32, is rumored to be in the midst of a complete makeover and insiders claim Bowles, who is the second wife of Prince Charles, has urged her to opt for a "shorter" hairstyle. The Duchess of Cornwall reportedly also advised Middleton, who has become somewhat of a fashion icon in recent years, to lighten her trademark brunette locks.
"Camilla has tried to help and advised her to go shorter and lighter," a source told the Daily Star UK.
"The royals always want to look smart and Kate is letting the side down. She has looked bedraggled recently and it's not a good image," the source added.
Middleton, who gave birth to her and Prince William's first child George Alexander Louis in July, is often hailed for her flawless appearance. In December the Duchess reportedly spent six hours getting her hair done at London's "most expensive" hair salon after she was photographed sporting gray streaks, according to Daily Mail U.K.
In recent weeks reports claimed Middleton had been instructed by Queen Elizabeth II to undergo a drastic makeover.
Critics like Jo Hansford, who is said to be Bowles' personal hairdresser, believe Middleton would benefit from cutting her luscious locks. Hansford's celebrity clientele boasts the likes of Hollywood actresses Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow among others.
"I think her hair needs to be cut," Hansford said. "She could get rid of a good six inches. It seems to be getting longer and longer but it is too long and is dragging down."
In addition to making changes to her hair, Middleton has reportedly also been advised to make adjustments to her wardrobe ahead of her upcoming royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Some of these changes include adding couture dresses with lower hemlines as well as heirloom jewels and the Queen's personal dresser Angela Kelly is expected to assist Middleton in her image overhaul.
"Angela has been asked to start selecting jewels ahead of the trip," a source told The Mail on Sunday.
"She knows most of the pieces in the Queen's private collection," the source continued. "Her understanding is crucial because this trip will be about Kate appearing more Royal than ever – you can expect to see a lot more tiaras and the Queen will be watching closely."
