Kate Middleton to Return to Royal Duties After Recovering From Acute Morning Sickness
Early on in September, Kate Middleton was forced to pull out of several royal duties due to acute morning sickness, and one of them was a visit to Malta, wherein the trip was supposed to be her first solo engagement outside the United Kingdom.
But now, The Mail reports that the Duchess of Cambridge is preparing to head back to work after recovering from three weeks of acute morning sickness.
The Duchess has been suffering from hyperemesis gravidum, which she also experienced while pregnant with Prince George. She has received medical attention at Kensington Palace this time instead of being confined in a hospital.
"There will be engagements on October and November. We just haven't announced them yet," a spokesperson told Daily Mail on Sunday,
The Duchess' last official engagement was on Aug. 5 when she opened a poppy installation at the Tower of London with her husband Prince William and Prince Harry.
Meanwhile, Prince William has wrapped up the two-day whirlwind tour in Malta in his wife's stead, according to the HRH Duchess Kate blog. The itinerary for the trip was mostly designed with the Duchess in mind, which includes a viewing of some of the works of Caravaggio, which is reportedly one of the things that the Duchess was looking forward to.
On a walkabout, the Prince greeted the people and told them that the Duchess was "feeling a little better" and that he has been keeping her updated of the tour and sending her good wishes.
Prince William also addressed the crowd in Valleta, where in a speech he said, "I'm sorry you've got me instead of Catherine."
"While I know that you were not expecting me until a few days ago, I must admit I feel honored to be able to represent Her Majesty in a country so beloved by her," said the Prince.
"Catherine has asked me to say how very sorry she is that she couldn't be the one to pass on the Queen's greetings to you all. She was looking forward to coming here, and I know she hopes very much that she will be able to visit in the future," he added.
