Kate Upton Joins Cast Of James Franco's 'The Disaster Artist'

Actress and Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton is set to join the cast of the James Franco-helmed "The Disaster Artist," which is a film about the making of the romantic drama "The Room." "The Room" is often referred to as the worst film of all time.

Franco will direct, produce, and star in the film. The 37-year-old actor and filmmaker is also set to take on the role of Tommy Wiseau, the director of the 2003 film.

Similarly, Wiseau wore mutiple hats behind the scenes of "The Room." Aside from directing, he also wrote, produced, and starred in what Entertainment Weekly called "the 'Citizen Kane' of bad movies."

"The Room" has a cult following among Hollywood celebrities that includes Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, and Kristen Bell, who all love the film in a so-bad-it's-great way. "The Room" tells the story of three people in a dramatic love triangle: Johnny (a banker), his fiancee Lisa, and his best friend Mark.

Franco's film is based on the 2013 non-fiction book, "The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room," which was written by journalist Tom Bissell with Greg Sestero, one of the lead actors in "The Room." In the book, Sestero recounted his life as a penniless actor and described working with Wiseau, who, bizarrely, is said to have had no experience in filmmaking prior to making "The Room."

Dave Franco (James' brother) will play the role of Sestero (who played Mark in "The Room"). Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, and Zac Efron have also joined the cast. Jacki Weaver, Ari Graynor, Hannibal Burress, and Andrew Santino will also be in the film.

The film will be produced by Seth Rogen's Point Grey Pictures. Co-producing are Vince Jolivette, Evan Goldberg, and James Franco. Independent production company Good Universe is also producing the film.

Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the writers behind the 2014 film "The Fault In Our Stars," are attached to pen the script for "The Disaster Artist."
