Katherine Heigl Adopted Baby Girl, Star's Sister Was Adopted (VIDEO)
Katherine Heigl recently adopted her second baby girl from Korea, a process which she has said is important to her.
Heigl was raised with an adoptive sister, Margaret Leigh, 34, who was also born in Korea. Margaret's adoption apparently left a memorable impression on the star who later revealed that she too, wanted to adopt.
The first baby girl which Heigl adopted was a special needs baby from Korea whom they named Nancy Leigh in 2009. In April Heigl announced that she had adopted her second baby girl. The new baby, named Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley, made her first appearance on Wednesday while out with her mother for a doctor's visit.
Heigl is married to Josh Kelley who she first met while staring in a 2005 music video "Only You." The actress later refused to move in with Kelley until they were married, stating that she hoped to save at least one thing until marriage. Heigl was also forthcoming about wanting to adopt as well.
[Adoption is] really important to me," Heigl said on the Ellen DeGeneres show in 2009, just after she had adopted her first baby girl. "I wanted to make sure I was marrying a guy ... who understood that that was going to have to happen."
Heigl married Kelley in 2007, it took the couple another two years to adopt Naleigh. The actress admitted that at first, the process was intimidating given the 40-page application that they were handed.
"I wanted to make sure I was marrying a guy ... who understood that that was going to have to happen," Heigl said.
Naleigh is now three years old and will have the pleasure of growing up with a sister.
