Katherine Heigl Eager to Return to 'Grey's Anatomy'

Former "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl is looking to make her return to the hit drama in the near future, according to a statement made by the actress to E! Online.

The actress was out promoting her new film "One for the Money" and informed the media outlet that she has already let the "Grey" producers know that she wants to make her return to the medical drama and reprise her role as the "floundering" Dr. Izzie.

"I told them I want to (return)," said Heigl. "I don't know… being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated, and she's (series creator Shonda Rhimes) balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don't know if it fits into their sort of vision for this season or next however many seasons it goes."

She also expressed her curiosity on what the writers would do with her character if she made her official return.

"I really, really, really want to see where is," Heigl continued. "I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she's doing now. My idea is that she actually, like, figures it out, and finds some success and does really well in a different hospital, because she was always floundering and she was always one step behind the eight ball, and I want to see that girl take some power back."

Heigl was one of the drama's original cast members and won a Supporting Actress Emmy for her role on the show in 2007. She left in 2010 in order to give more time to raising her daughter.

She also made some negative, public comments about the show's writers to the Los Angeles Times during her hiatus.
