Katie Holmes was recently spotted out with a mystery man and while onlookers assumed the pair was on a date, a new report claims they are just friends.
On Wednesday the divorced actress sat courtside with her unidentified companion while enjoying a basketball match. The two were at Madison Square Garden in the Big Apple to watch the Golden State Warriors vs. the New York Knicks.
Holmes, 33, seemed to be getting along well with the mystery man, who was sporting a wedding band. The duo exchanged jokes and whispers, but he is said to be married and the two are not romantically involved, according to the Daily Mail.

The single mom appears to be taking advantage of her free time as her 6-year-old daughter Suri recently flew to London to spend five days with her father Tom Cruise.
In June, Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise, 50, after six years of marriage and while the actress is ready to begin dating again, she has reportedly sworn off actors.
"Katie doesn't want to tie herself down just yet, but she says she's done going out with actors," a source previously told RadarOnline.com.
"Her previous relationships with Joshua (Jackson), Chris (Klein) and Tom (Cruise) didn't work out, so she thinks she should look away from her own profession," the source continued.
In January the fashion designer was linked to actor Jake Gyllenhaal, although her rep denied the pair was more than friends. She has reportedly been socializing and meeting people, although she has not yet met anyone serious.
"Jeanne Yang, her business partner for the Holmes & Yang fashion label, has taken Katie to some art gallery openings recently," the source said adding, "she's met tons of interesting artists."
Holmes allegedly left Cruise blindsided with her 2012 divorce filing and while she is said to be happy that she is no longer married to the actor, she is also said to be somewhat lonely. A new report claims that the actress is fearful about meeting someone new.
"Katie's in a dilemma, because she wants to date but is concerned where it could lead to from there," a source said.
"She's worried that if she commits herself fully to another man, she will have to give up the freedom she's enjoying so much at the moment," the source continued, adding "As a single woman, she has no one controlling her nowadays, telling her what to do or who to see and she absolutely loves it!"
