Katie Holmes News: Star Says She 'Learned From Everything'

In the December cover story of Ocean Drive magazine, Katie Holmes, whose 18-year acting career includes starring roles in films such as "The Ice Storm," "Wonder Boys," and "Pieces of April," reveals what many have been asking: Does she regret some things in her life?

"I don't regret anything that I've done," Holmes said. The "Batman Begins" actress explained: "I've learned from everything, and everything sort of leads you to the next place. I just keep going."

The 36-year-old actress, who first made headlines as Joey Potter in the small-screen teen drama "Dawson's Creek," famously started dating Tom Cruise in 2005. Their courtship became tabloid fodder after Cruise's couch-jumping antics on "Oprah." Throughout the course of their relationship, the two were dubbed a supercouple and were given the nickname "TomKat." The two welcomed daughter Suri Cruise in April 2006 and were married in a castle in Italy in November of the same year. In 2012, Holmes filed for divorce, leading many to speculate that the actress had pulled the plug on her marriage in fear of the Church of Scientology and its influence on Cruise.

Last month, Holmes publicly apologized to "The King of Queens" actress and former Scientologist Leah Remini after Remini revealed Holmes' allegedly acerbic attitude towards her in the years that Holmes and Cruise were married. "I regret having upset Leah in the past," Holmes said through a representative. "And wish her only the best in the future."

The high-profile marriage and life in the international spotlight may seem anything but normal, but the "Thank You For Smoking" actress has both feet firmly on the ground. "I have a very normal life, and I happen to work in an industry that is abnormal," she told Ocean Drive magazine. Holmes added: "Daily life, I take a train and cab; it's just about getting from here to there, and I don't care how I do it. I have to get there."

Apart from being a full-time mom (she has custody of daughter Suri), the actress has been very busy doing good (she hosted the 2015 Global Citizen Festival) and filming the upcoming drama-romance "Touched With Fire" and Showtime's "Ray Donovan." Holmes is making her directorial debut in the upcoming film "All We Had."
