Katie Holmes Thankgiving Plans: First Without Tom Cruise
Single mother Katie Holmes has opened up about her holiday plans this week.
Although she is busy with her new Broadway play "Dead Accounts," the 33-year-old actress said she would have time to celebrate Thanksgiving this year.
Newly divorced from Tom Cruise, Holmes and presumably her six-year-old daughter Suri will be visiting family in Ohio this Thursday.
"We have Thursday off, so I'm going to have a chance to go home with my family," Holmes revealed while on "Live! With Kelly and Michael" on Wednesday.
While Thanksgiving is not until tomorrow, the actress admitted she had already enjoyed parts of the traditional feast.
"But I actually had a little bit of turkey yesterday and stuffing and derby pie."
When the morning show's hosts asked why those foods were offered, Holmes explained, "I don't know, to warm up? It was awesome. It was amazing and I'm actually not sick of it and I'm ready for more."
Moreover, during a past interview with Jimmy Fallon, Holmes revealed a special Thanksgiving family tradition.
"Many years ago, my dad started this tradition where we all do this run in the local park," said the Toledo, Ohio native. "It's a three mile run, called the Turkey Trot."
Holmes will return to NYC Friday where she and the "Dead Accounts" cast will be working on preview performances in order to master their performances and sort out last-minute details.
"Dead Accounts" officially opens at the Music Box Theatre in New York City on Nov. 28. The play also stars Judy Greer, Jayne Houdyshell and Norbert Leo Butz.
Meanwhile, Holmes and Cruise finalized their settlement earlier this year and agreed that their daughter Suri would live with her mother. Due to New York law requiring that all divorce documents be sealed, the exact terms of the settlement are unknown. The couple had been married for five years before their split.
The actress is often spotted with Suri NYC, who attends the Convent of the Sacred Heart in NYC's Upper East Side.
