Katie Wilkins Found Dead in Garage, Police Seek Answers
Katie Wilkins, 25, may have died of natural causes, but police are also asking for help in answering questions they still have surrounding her death. Wilkins was found dead, alone in her parents' garage, amid unusual circumstances.
Wilkins' brother Steve discovered Katie's body in the garage of the home, where she was visiting. Though police have ruled out foul play, there are still questions lingering around the case. For starters, Wilkins' BMW was stolen, and the home showed signs of Katie having a visitor, her father Rob told ABC.
"We're working with the police detectives to try to find leads to try find out who may have done this," Rob told ABC. "All of a sudden, a bunch of questions came through. What happened? How could she be left like this? Was she alone?"
Adding to the mystery are the facts that when Steve entered the home, he discovered the washing machine still running and food left on the stove. The family dog had also gotten out from the home and was running around the neighborhood, leading authorities to believe that Wilkins was not alone before she died.
"It appears that there was no foul play involved," Lieutenant Dave Dolson told LA Weekly. They are "still looking for the car" and someone who will "help put some pieces together."
The medical examiner's office has tentatively ruled Wilkins' death "natural" but is still awaiting toxicology reports. "It looks like someone was there with her," Steve told the LA Times. "We're not angry. We're not upset with anyone who might have been with her."
"We just want them to come forward and help bring some closure to Katie. She was loved by a lot of people," Steve said.
