Katniss Everdeen: Jennifer Lawrence Ready for Opening Night

Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the new movie "The Hunger Games" later this week, but Jennifer Lawrence, the movie's heroine, did not see herself in this role.

In an interview during Moviefone's special "The Hunger Games" edition of Unscripted, Lawrence explained that she pictured her with a different face. "I pictured her as another face, with a braid."

The young starlet has continued to state that she did not even consider playing Katniss Everdeen in a movie version of Suzanne Collins's best-selling trilogy.

"That would be slightly narcissistic, anyway," she said.

"The Hunger Games," which is based on a novel series written by Suzanne Collins, is set in a futuristic, Orwellian North America. There is a society which is based on control and governance of all manner of life's aspects.

The population is divided into districts. There are 12 districts in all which are controlled by one governing district called the Capitol.It is at the discretion of the Capitol who will be selected.

There is one male and one female between the ages of 12 and 18 selected from each of the other 12 districts. They are chosen to compete in an annual challenge, where the winner is able to live and has food to last them for the rest of their life and the losers receive death.

In another interview, Lawrence told MTV that she had sticking to a very rigid training schedule as she prepared for her new role. She explained that she had a running coach, giving training for stunts that would allow her to vault as well as wall climb.

She even went through several weeks of archery classes. Lawrence stated that that her intense training "was rough but fun."

Lawrence will only have a few short months to rest. She will start training for the second movie in the series in June.
