'Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu' Episode 12 Spoilers: Conflict Between Sword Warriors Continues; Horikawa Runs Away?

Now that Horikawa has ended up betraying his sworn duty as a sword warrior for the sake of his former master, Hijikata, how will this affect their ongoing mission on the next episode of the Japanese fantasy anime series, "Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu"?

This week's episode ended on such a harrowing note, with Izuminokami racing his sword on his partner and Horikawa closing his eyes and accepting his fate. However, rushing in to stop them is Mutsunokami, whose screams ended up being ignored.

Can Izuminokami really bear hurting his partner? Did he really bring his sword down on the traitorous Horikawa, or will he end up gaining his senses back at the last minute?

The sword warriors may have retained their memories of the times they spent with their masters. But their one true goal is to stop the Time Retrograde army from messing up with time. What consequences will Horikawa's action bring about at this point?

The preview shown at the end of the episode this week hinted at Horikawa quite possibly running away. Tsurumaru also showed concern over what's been troubling Horikawa and if they could have perhaps prevented him from messing with time if they had only shown more interest in his thoughts.

Also, will Izuminokami and Horikawa still be able to fix their broken partnership? What can Horikawa possibly do to make up for what he did, and will this be enough for Izuminokami to give him a second chance?

There is also the Time Retrograde Army, which seems to be gaining the upper hand just as Izuminokami and Horikawa are practically breaking apart. One can't help but wonder if the Army has perhaps anticipated Horikawa's betrayal long before the thought was even formed in the sword warriors mind.

Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu" airs on Saturdays late night at 12:30 a.m. JST on Tokyo MX. Information on other broadcast schedules as well as online resources can be found on the series' official site.
