Katy Perry has opened up for the first time since the news of her divorce from Russell Brand was announced.

The ""California Gurlz" singer took to her Twitter account over the weekend saying that she is "happy again.”

"I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world," wrote Perry. "You guys have made my heart happy again."

Many media outlets have been covering the news of Brand and Perry's divorce extensively claiming to have inside information on the couple.

HollywoodLife.com reported an insider's knowledge of the divorce, with the source saying, "Katy and Russell are just in two very different places right now in their lives."

"Their marriage is not working out," continued the source, who explained that Brand is "in recovery and really trying to stay clean but her lifestyle isn't helping him at all."

In addition to the tweet about her newfound happiness, 27-year-old Perry cleared up rumors surrounding her divorce on the social media site.

"Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me," posted Perry. "Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family."

After a 14-month marriage and many rumors of a split, Brand announced the divorce on Dec. 30.

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," said the British comedian in a statement released to the Associated Press. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

Perry is currently riding a high wave in her career, becoming the first female singer to get five hits on the Billboard Hot 100 within one year. Many reports on Brand and Perry's divorce indicate the split was due to the singer's unwillingness to "settle down."

The singer is nominated for five awards at this year's People's Choice Awards, which airs Wednesday.
