Katy Perry Done With Men After John Mayer Split?
Katy Perry is reportedly done with dating following claims that the singer was blindsided by her recent split from John Mayer.
On March 20 it was revealed that the couple had called it quits after less than one year of dating and a new report claims that it was Mayer, 35, who initiated the break up. Perry, 28, is now said to be focused on healing.
"It's been a really tough time for Katy, John just emotionally bailed on her!" a source reportedly told Heat magazine.
"She can't believe she's back to square one. She's had enough of men," the source explained. "Katy is concentrating on healing, working on new music, and spending time with her girlfriends."
It is not yet clear why exactly Mayer ended the relationship however a source allegedly linked to Perry claims that in the months prior to their split. the pop singer began to grow weary of his motives.
"He's very defensive and comes across as extremely jealous of her career," a source linked to Perry reportedly told People magazine.
"He's basically using Katy, who fits into his plan to stay in the spotlight right now," the People source said of Mayer, who has been recovering from vocal granuloma surgeries and retreating to Montana while on vocal rest for the past year.
Mayer, who attended the 55th Grammys with Perry in February, showed no signs of a strained relationship at the awards ceremony. The troubled singer began dating Perry in July 2012 and he reportedly helped her overcome the emotional challenges of her 2011 divorce from actor Russell Brand.
In June Perry vowed to take a break from showbiz to properly recover from the breakdown of her marriage to Brand, 36, however weeks later she began dating Mayer.
"I need to let my heart heal," Perry reportedly told the Daily Mirror when explaining her reasons for taking a break.
Perry and Mayer appeared to grow serious at a rapid pace with both introducing one another to their respective families within months of dating. Mayer was photographed spending Christmas with Perry's family in Santa Barbara.
"Introducing her to his dad was a big deal," a source linked to Mayer said. "It was just too much, too soon."
