Katy Perry Gets Back at Taylor Swift With 'Mean Girls' Tweet
Katy Perry doesn't seem too pleased with Taylor Swift after the "Shake It Off" singer allegedly called her in an interview. On Monday, Swift's interview was released and in it, the singer said that her new song, "Bad Blood," was inspired by a female superstar frenemy, but she kept mum about the person's identity.
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," said the 24-year old to Rolling Stone. "She would come up to me at award shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?' She did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.'"
Reports are saying that the two might have started feuding over John Mayer. Both Swift and Perry dated the singer, with his relationship with Swift ending in a bitter song about him titled "Dear John," while Perry dated him on and off for two years.
But Swift was quick to point out that their feud is "not about a guy. It had to do with business."
"She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational—you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it," said Swift.
Hours after the interview was released, Perry tweeted about the situation.
"Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing…" the pop star wrote.
The "Firework" singer was referring to the "Mean Girls" character played by Rachel McAdams, who causes trouble by talking about other people behind their backs.
For now, it is still unconfirmed whether Swift was really referring to Perry in the interview, or if Perry indirectly said that Swift is a bully. But fans of the singers know that both of them will not take things lying down, so expect more zingers from these two ladies in the coming days.
