Katy Perry Ready for Baby? Singer 'Wants Kids ASAP'
Katy Perry is reportedly intent on becoming a mother despite her recent split from John Mayer.
In March the "Roar" singer, 29, abruptly ended her relationship with the "Paper Doll" singer, 36, and she was recently spotted with DJ Diplo at the Coachella music festival which sparked romance rumors. As speculation surrounding Perry's love life continues, a new report claims the singer is focused on becoming a mother by the end of the year.
"Katy wants kids as soon as possible," a source told RadarOnline.
"If she goes through with this, it will be as much a publicity stunt as anything else in her career," the insider continued. "As she admits to her friends all the time, she is addicted to attention!"
In 2012 Perry, who was once married to actor Russell Brand, revealed that she wants to start a family, but that she was not ready at the time.
"I want to be a mother, but now is not the right time," she told the Daily Mirror UK after her divorce from Brand. "A baby can't have a baby."
Perry and Brand ended their two-year marriage due to ongoing marital woes.
It is unclear why Perry split from Mayer however insiders claim cheating played a role. The pair dated on and off since 2012.
"[Katy] found text messages on John's phone from some random girl," a source told The New York Post's Page Six adding the split was "mutual" and "extremely amicable."
The "Who You Love" duo showed no signs of strain on Valentine's day when they were photographed enjoying a romantic dinner date.
Perry kicks off her Prismatic world tour in May, which is also said to have played a role in their decision to part ways.
"She's stressed about the tour, they've been fighting. It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever," a source told Us magazine.
