Katy Perry Skips People's Choice Awards to Save Marriage
A video released of Russell Brand has shown the actor removing his wedding ring a month before divorce announcements were made, but Katy Perry may still attempt a U.K. trip for reconciliation after canceling her first public event since the couple split.
Russell Brand announced that he and Katy Perry would be filing for divorce in December. However, only a month before, the actor made a video of himself introducing an East Coast college tour, at the end of which he removed his wedding ring.
“This for me is going to be an educational experience,” the comedian said. “I am going to meet people from fraternities and sororities. I don’t know what a sorority is except for things that I’ve seen on nude vista, that they are a sort of sex club for women.”

At the end of the video, after saying, “I am going to learn more about sororities” the actor removed the wedding ring from his finger and said. “I’m just going to place this somewhere very, very place for the next week.”
On Monday, Katy Perry announced on Twitter that she would not be attending People’s Choice Award.
“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed!” the singer tweeted.
Grazia magazine later reported that Perry was instead planning a reconciliation with Brand. “Katy was absolutely crushed by Russell's decision. She's furious after everything he's done, but still insists there must be a way to reconcile and try to work things out,” the magazine said.
Other reports have now said the even the singer’s parents were shocked about the divorce papers. Pastor Paul Endrei, a close pal of Keith and Mary said, “We had no idea about the divorce. It came as a complete shock to everyone,” in a report by the news site Mirror.
Grazia said that Katy Perry might attempt a U.K. trip. “She's now considering jetting to the UK as she's desperate to see him and talk to him,” the magazine reported. “She said she can't stand that everything has been done over the phone and says she needs to see him before she can truly accept it's over.”
Despite the number of reports, Perry said on her Twitter account Saturday that fans should be weary of gossip sites.
“Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family,” the singer said Saturday on Twitter.
Many rumors have surrounded the singer, who began her career in Christian music. Church on the Rise in Ohio, where Perry’s parents are both pastors saw a large increase in attendance after the singer’s divorce was announced.
"I'm sure Katy is trending on the Internet just to get you to church tonight," Mary Hudson, Perry’s mother, claimed to 300 worshippers in her 90 minute preaching segment.
