Keanu Reeves Talks about Plot Details for 'John Wick 2'

It's no secret that Keanu Reeves' action movie "John Wick" is getting a sequel. And it's no surprise either as the film was such an impressive hit when it arrived in 2014. No wonder Lionsgate has come to a decision to expand the movie into a franchise and delve deeper into the life of the legendary assassin.

Since filming is bound to start soon, Reeves spoke to Collider in an interview about "John Wick 2" wherein he revealed some juicy details. He spoke about how writer Drew Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski are approaching the story and what they are planning to do in order to surpass the first film.

As the Canadian actor said, the sequel will explore the dichotomy between John Wick the assassin and John the normal guy who once got married and lived a happy life with his wife for five years. Then he revealed that the real challenge they're facing is how to outdo the emotional pull of the first film. Anyone who has watched the movie knows that the tension of the story started when Wick's dog, his wife's last gift to him before she died, was murdered. That's when he started looking for vengeance.

"'Why tell the story? Why do we need to do this again? How do we do that without doing another dog?' So we speak about John Wick, the next chapter, and what is that emotional hook?" said Reeves. "So I think we have a good idea of that."

As noted by Food World News, John Wick is certainly more than just "an angry assassin trying to avenge his dead pet." The 51-year old actor also shared that he has been learning different styles of weapons training with new tools, as well as learning more about Judo and Jujitsu in preparation for the sequel.

Filming for "John Wick 2" is scheduled to start at the end of October.
