Ke$ha Leaves Rehab, 'Blessed' Singer Tweets Happiness
Ke$ha announced her return home after two months in rehab for an eating disorder via Twitter on Thursday, March 6.
The "Timber" singer entered a treatment center in January, but not without promising fans a full recovery. Now, Ke$ha is keeping true to her promise.
"Happy to be back! Feeling healthy & working on tons of new music," the 26-year-old singer wrote on Twitter Thursday, along with a photo of herself with red hair looking out the window of a plane.
Furthermore, Ke$ha added several emojis of hearts and a rainbow along with, "life is beautiful. I'm blessed to have u all."
Eating disorders include bulimia, anorexia, and body dysmorphia, which is where the patient is preoccupied with a perceived defect, such as being overweight when they are not. According to sources close to Ke$ha, the singer suffered from hurtful comments made by music producer Dr. Luke, who criticized her weight and even referred to her once as a refrigerator, according to TMZ.
Days after entering rehab back in January, Ke$ha thanked her legions of fans on Twitter via a friend who posted the message from the singer's official account.
"[Ke$ha] says, 'THANK YOU. SOOOO MUCH,'" the message began. "I'm overwhelmed to tears by all of the love, letters and support!!! I'll be back soon and better than ever."
Although Ke$ha expressed confidence about making a full recovery from the eating disorder, a source close to her previously admitted that they "really had no timeline" for her treatment.
"I had no idea she would be out today," the insider added, according to People.com.
Ke$ha's rehab completion arrives one month after she postponed her spring concerts in order to get "her health back on track," according to a statement.
Meanwhile, Ke$ha is not the only star to go public with her eating disorder. Lady Gaga recently admitted to suffering from the pressure to be thin as well. The "Applause" singer opened up to Harper's Bazaar magazine about her recovery, reassuring fans that she is "better with food."
"I don't have an eating disorder anymore," Gaga told the magazine. "I'm also better at not letting people take advantage of me … I should be around people who cherish my talents, my health, my time."
