Keith Urban Announces Album, Uncertain on 'Idol'
Keith Urban announced anew album set for release this fall, but the country music singer revealed his future on "American Idol" is less certain.
The "Put You In A Song" singer served as a judge on the reality series during season 12. However, recent reports name a slew of other artists who may appear at the judge's table next season.
"I have no official information of anything," Urban told the Associated Press. "I'm pretty much in the same boat as everybody else here with the rumors that have been floating around. I don't know anything more about what's happening next season."
"It was like this before I signed on," recounted the Aussie guitarist. "So it's not unusual for the 'Idol' folks to be in this place of figuring out what they want to do, then they always pull it together."
Many rumors surrounding the upcoming "Idol" season include names such as Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, or Adam Lambert. However, no judges have been confirmed.
Season 12 panelist Randy Jackson announced that he will not be returning to the series, while fellow judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are also not expected to return.
Meanwhile, Urban had already appeared on Australia's version of the singing reality singing competition "The Voice." The country music star is best known for his hit songs "Long Hot Summer" and "You'll Think Of Me," among others.
Today, the 45-year-old singer-guitarist is preparing to release his 10th studio album, "Fuse."
This time, Urban worked with producer Jay Joyce and is using his "Idol" experience on new songs.
"It's just been really creatively liberating to me," said the singer, who is married to Nicole Kidman. "It's the thing I've always loved doing, whether it's writing or performing or being in the studio, I love the collaborative process."
Urban's "Fuse" has a Sept. 10 release date, but in the meantime, fans can enjoy his new single "Little Bit of Everything."
Kidman and Urban share two daughters together.
