Keith Urban Joins Adele, John Mayer in Throat Injuries; Postpones 'All for the Hall' Concert

Keith Urban has been diagnosed with throat polyps and must undergo surgery similar to fellow vocalists Adele and John Mayer this year.

Urban must have the polyp removed from his vocal chords later this month, forcing the country singer to postpone his “All for the Hall” concert benefiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in January.

“The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of recuperation,” said a statement on Urban’s website.

The 44-year-old Grammy winner married Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman in 2006 and have two daughters – Sunday Rose, 3, and Faith Margaret, aged 11-months together.

Urban is not the only singer facing illnesses preventing performances this year; Adele was forced to cancel a 10-city U.S. tour for a vocal hemorrhage this year.

"I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever," the Grammy Award-winning Adele said on her website. "I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it and how truly devastated and annoyed I am by this."

This is not the first time Adele has struggled with her vocal chords, as she had already canceled a few U.S. shows in June after getting laryngitis.

"My voice is weak and I need to build it back up. I'm gonna be starting up vocal rehab as soon as [I can], and start building my overall stamina in my voice, body and mind," said the 23-year-old. "I will be back and I'm gonna smash the ball out the park once I'm touring again. I apologize from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I do."

Also, singer John Mayer recently canceled some concert dates in mid-September and had to postpone the release of his next album because of a granuloma near his vocal chords. The “Say What You Need To Say” singer’s condition required an operation and he is currently recuperating.

In 2002, Kelly Clarkson, hot off of her American Idol win, had to cancel a portion of her tour due to inflamed nodes in the back of her throat. The star recently mentioned that she would love to collaborate with aforementioned Adele for a duet, according to the U.K.’s The Guardian.
