Kelly Clarkson Covers Katy Perry's 'Wide Awake;' Better Than Original? (VIDEO)
Kelly Clarkson did a slower more soulful cover of Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" song at a concert earlier this week in Concord, Calif.
The cover was part of a new traditional at Clarkson's concert where she sings a song by another artist that her fans pick. Her fans can request songs they want the 2002 American Idol winner to cover by tweeting her their name, song time and #KCrequests.
While Clarkson covered Perry's more pop-sounding "Wide Awake" at her concert on July 25, she also covered Britney Spears' song "Everytime" at her concert in Las Vegas on July 27.
Clarkson, 30, became a mentor and judge on the singing competition reality television show "Duets" on ABC this year. "Duets" debuted on May 24, and stars Clarkson, John Legend, Robin Thicke, and Jennifer Nettles as mentors who search for singers to perform duets with them.
Some of Clarkson's most well-known songs include: "A Moment Like This," Miss Independent," "Breakaway," "Because of You," "Since U Been Gone," among others.
