Kelly Clarkson Reveals 'Reverend Blake' Shelton Will Officiate Wedding
Kelly Clarkson has asked good friend and fellow country music singer Blake Shelton for a special service for her wedding to Brandon Blackstock this fall.
Shelton is not only offering a performance during Clarkson's wedding, but will be officiating the ceremony, according to reports on Tuesday.
"He's not only singing, he's marrying us," the "American Idol" alum revealed during Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards, according to "Entertainment Tonight." "He totally is, he's done it before with people."
Clarkson even referred to her friend as "Reverend Blake," and noted that Shelton is also officiating the wedding of a bandmate of his wife, Miranda Lambert, of the Pistol Annies.
Furthermore, Shelton is a friend of both Clarkson and her fiancé Blackstock, who is Shelton's manager. Blackstone is the stepson of singer Reba McEntire through her marriage to Clarkson's manager, Narvel Blackstock.
Despite having known each other for years, Clarkson and Blackstock did not end up together until February of 2011. After over a year together in December, Clarkson and Blackstock revealed their engagement.
"Brandon is my manager's son," Clarkson once explained to the Daily Mail. "I've known him for six years but he was married. Then, suddenly, there he was at the Super Bowl and he was single."
The "Stronger" singer also revealed a few details about her upcoming nuptials. While the wedding date is unknown, Clarkson and her fiancé are planning an outdoor and "earthy" wedding for the fall, according to People magazine.
The Grammy Award-winning singer also revealed details about the special moment when her talent manager fiancé proposed.
"I [didn't have] a d--- clue," exclaimed the "Stronger" singer speaking to People. "If I did I would have worn something besides Uggs and a sweatshirt with no bra!"
Moreover, Clarkson admitted that before starting her relationship with Blackstock, she was lost while looking for love.
"I was dating skinny jeans and I needed Wranglers," she told the magazine. "I didn't know life could be this happy."
