Kelly Ripa's New Host Search Might Be Over After Derek Hough Impresses On Show (VIDEO)
The talk show world has been buzzing lately with rumors about who Kelly Ripa’s potential new co-host might be, with a number of names being thrown out by various media websites.
After Regis Philbin retired and left the show, the morning programme was renamed simply to “Live With Kelly” and changed its logo. A direct replacement was not found right away, however, and producers have been keeping fans guessing with a series of guest hosts who have filled in the empty chair next to Ripa in recent weeks.
Jerry Seinfeld was the comedian charged with the task of hosting the first show after Philbin’s departure, and a number of other celebrities have filled in since – including “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris. Derek Hough from “Dancing With the Stars” was Ripa’s latest co-host, and the Examiner is reporting that the hostess has her sights set on him to be her permanent partner.
The dancer, 26, impressed Ripa during the opening portion of the show where the co-hosts chatted about various subjects, and with the gentlemanly way in which he helped her to her seat.
Hough was equally as happy with his appearance, and posted on his Twitter account that: “(I) Had a great time with Kelly today on the show. Next time we'll do a little dance ;)."
Another interesting story that broke from the episode is that Regis Philbin is thinking about participating in “Dancing With the Stars.” Hough expressed his eagerness to see the former host show off some dance moves, and promised to help him settle in.
Other names mentioned in some reports indicate Dana Carvey, Mark Consuelos, Andy Cohen and Ryan Seacrest could be potential candidates to take Philbin's spot. If Ripa has her way, however, Hough will be in consideration when “Like With Kelly” producers announce their decision within the next few months.
